Martin Kling

Piano & Ukulele Instructor

Music has always been in Martin's life. He began organ lessons, in Hamilton Ontario, at the age of four. The following year, he performed in his first concert, sponsored by Yamaha Canada. By the age of twelve, Martin began piano lessons. It was during this time that he realized his true talent...the ability to play by ear. This ignited his passion for composition and performance.

Throughout middle and high school, Martin developed a proficiency for brass instruments, specifically the tuba, trombone, and baritone. However, he continued his piano lessons and achieved his Grade 9 standing with the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Martin studied Music at McMaster University, where he received a Minor along with his Bachelor of Physical Education degree. After his formal education was completed with a Masters of Science in Education, Martin performed as Sport Organist at Hamilton's Copps Coliseum, Keyboardist for numerous bands, and Church Organist/Pianist for the many communities in which he has lived.

Since 2007, Martin has lived in Chatham, and has worked as an Elementary School Music Teacher for the St-Clair Catholic District School Board. He teaches the ukulele and keyboard to students from JK-Grade 8.

Martin believes that music is in everyone, and that everyone has the ability to express themselves through this art-form. The key to his students' success is through a differentiated approach to learning. The challenge, however, is finding each student's optimal method of learning. For this to occur, Martin believes that communication and collaboration with each student are key.
