Melody Makers

Ages: 6-8

Melody Makers is an introductory voice class that includes singing, rhythm, movement, and more! Taught by our very own Megan Whalen, it will launch this Spring on Saturday mornings from 9:15am-10:00am

GLEE: Music Club

Director: Laura Van Veen

Rehearsals:  Saturdays 10:00-11:00AM

Ages: 7-14

This one of a kind group Vocal class is all about popular music and putting on a show! Students will learn basic vocal techniques while learning basic blocking and theatre movement. No dance or vocal Experience needed. The Glee Club focuses on building confidence and musicality by working together as a cast and taking on special solo pieces throughout the year. All supplies are included. Performance opportunities will be available at the end of each semester.

Resonance: Performance Team

Director: Megan Whalen

Rehearsals: Wednesdays 7:00-9:00PM

Ages: Audition Only

Chatham Music Academy is excited to announce RESONANCE, a new audition-only traveling vocal group. Resonance will perform throughout Chatham-Kent in retirement homes, festivals, schools, and many other events throughout the year.

Under the direction of Megan Whalen, Resonance will perform a wide range of music to appeal to diverse audiences. This is a unique opportunity to develop repertoire, learn from peers, work with an accompanist, receive feedback and build on concepts learned in private lessons. 

Theatre Workshop

Directors: Laura Van Veen

Rehearsals: Saturdays  11:00AM-12:00PM

Ages: 12+

The theatre performance group focuses on monologue work, scene work, and improvisation. Students will have fun with drama games, miming, and stagecraft. Throughout the year students will work on small skits as well as one larger show, where they will get experience both on and behind the stage. All supplies are included. The groups will have numerous opportunities to perform during the year, including their year-end play.

Opus One: String Ensemble

Director: Brian Blakeley

Rehearsals: Mondays TBD

Rosin up your bow and make friendships by making music in this lively new ensemble of students who love to make music together. The ensemble will perform a variety of repertoire and special arrangements under the leadership of Chatham Music Academy’s string instructor, Brian Blakeley. This ensemble class is open to current string students of the academy upon the recommendation of their private instructor.
